Award-winning comedian, Basketmouth, has tendered a ‘contentious’ apology to his colleague, Ayo Makun, popularly known as “AY” over their long-standing beef.
Besides AY, Basketmouth also expressed remorse to his other colleagues who may have been hurt or whose careers may have been affected adversely by his actions and actions at different points.
He said though he wouldn’t wholeheartedly agree or dispute their claims of crossing them because the Almighty knew the truth, he nonetheless entreated them for their forgiveness.
Basketmouth in a video shared on his Instagram page, emphasised the need for them to coexist peacefully and harmoniously.
He said: “To all the people in the industry and beyond that I have offended over time, knowingly or unknowingly, I say this to you right now from the bottom of my heart, I am genuinely sorry, please forgive me.
“And to the people who have accused me of doing things that affected their career in one way or the other, I am not going to accept or deny this allegation because God knows the truth, regardless please forgive me, I beg you from the bottom of my heart.
“Now to my guy AY I don’t know if my apology is still valid right now, but if it is please forgive me for whatever I have done or said in the past that affected you in any way, please forgive me.
“And I want you to know that I have forgiven you for whatever you did or said knowingly or unknowingly. It’s gone, I just want us to leave in peace and harmony.”
Addressing individuals who may want to contest his apology and actually probe the motive behind it, the seasoned stand-up comedian added: “Now for the people that are thinking or assuming that this apology video is birthed because I have a show coming up on the 26th of November, I’ll like to say this, you re absolutely correct.
“I’m trying to sell tickets for my show but I’m also sorry for everything I’ve done. But, it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to sell tickets for my show o!”
A few months ago, AY Makun during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, claimed the 17-year-old beef between him and his colleague, Bright Okpocha was sparked off because of an unpaid N30,000 which was meant to be payment for a performance on behalf of Basketmouth.
Though he didn’t state if the money was eventually paid to him, Basketmouth during his interview with Nedu and others on the ‘Honest Bunch’ podcast revealed AY was paid the money eventually.
To the astonishment of many, Basketmouth noted that 90 percent of the claims made by AY during his interview were lies adding, that they were never friends at any point like the latter claimed.
He explained the only time they came together was when he fixed AY on their ‘Laugh and Jamz’ show at the time following Ali Baba’s instruction.
