Abia State chapter of the All progressives Youth Forum APYF, has lauded the decision of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to nominate Mr. Olawande Ayodele as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu had through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale announced the nomination of Dr. Jamila Ibrahim as the Minister of Youth, while Mr. Ayodele Olawande, a community development expert and youth leader in the governing All Progressives Congress as Minister of State for Youth, pending their confirmation by the Senate.
This is coming weeks after President Tinubu redeployed 60-year-old Abubakar Momoh, whom he had earlier nominated as Youth Minister, to the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
The Abia APC youth group in a statement jointly signed by Comrade Igwe Chibuisi Agu,State coordinator, Comrade Okoroafor Kingsley Nduoma, State Secretary and Comrade Azor Chinonso Joshua, described the decision of the President to appoint the duo ministers as apt, especially as it came when there is public outcry by the youths over years of exclusion from governance by previous governments.
The group while commending the President for showing commitment in giving youths the opportunity to not only serve in his government, but to bring their innovative skills to the table as government initiates series of programms and policies to meeting the yearnings of the youths, maintained that it was a wrong practice for an older person who they claim might have lost touch with the present realities as it relates with the problems and challenges of the youths, to occupy the position of a youth minister, thereby creating a gulf between the youths and government.
APCYC, while describing Ayodele as an asset to the President Tinubu’s led government said that they have absolute confidence that the Minister of State for Youth would work creditably as he had shown in various positions that he has served which they said, earned him the call for higher service.
