The factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa has declared three days total lockdown in the southeast.

Ekpa in a five minutes broadcast on Wednesday, Ikpa stated that the planned lockdown would commence with a curfew starting from 6pm on May 28, while the sit-at-home would be observed on May 29 and 30.

According to Ekpa who informed his audience that the purpose of the May 29 sit-at-home was to ensure that there was no government activities from the local government to the state and federal government levels of governance; a day that both the governors-elect and President-elect would be sworn into office with their deputies and vice-President.

Ekpa, a self-acclaimed Prime Minister of Biafra Republic in exile further stated that the May 30 sit-at-home was in remembrance of Biafra’s fallen heroes.

He said that the only the reason he was going to rescind his decision would be if the federal government would agree to the referendum championed by the group or allowing for the exit of Biafra from Nigeria.

He said that all major roads in the entire Southeast would be shutdown during the sit-at-home.
