The Abia State Election Debate Team (ASEDT) has released a tentative timetable for the scheduled 2023 election debate in the state.
The debate timetable was made public to newsmen on Friday in a press conference in Umuahia by the organizers.
According to Emenike Iroebgu, who spoke on behalf of the debate team, said the Abia debate has been scheduled into four categories, namely the house of representatives debate, the senatorial debate, the deputy governorship debate and the governorship debate.
The debate is to kick-off on the 5th-14th of December with the house of representatives candidates debate while the senatorial candidates debate will run from 16th-20th December, 2022.
The deputy governorship debate will hold on 9th of January 2023, while the governorship debate is scheduled to hold on 16th of January, 2023.
Emenike however hinted that the election debate timetable is subject to change Incase of any eventuality that may warrant any adjustment.
The debate team also announced the partnering radio stations that will ensure that live broadcast transmission of the event gets to the grassroots for citizens to make up their minds on who to vote during the election.
The debate team called on all candidates vying for elective positions in the categories listed above not to shy away from the debate, rather they should take it as a platform to tell the Abians about their plans which will justify why they should be elected into public office.
The partnering broadcast stations to air the debate live are; flo-fm 94.9, Vision African Radio 104.1 fm, Rapid fm 96.5, Family Love 99.9 fm, Real fm 99.1fm (Aba), Sun fm (Igbere) and All Facts online television.
The partnering online print media platforms are; Candid Reporters, City Times, Profjayblog.com, infonet9ja.com and Casat News.
Emenike also hinted that every candidate will receive a letter of invitation to participate and also confirm their attendance for adequate preparation.
