The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu would continue to remain in the detention facility of the Department of State Security (DSS).
Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has granted the request by the Federal Government for a stay of execution of its October 13 judgment freeing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu and quashing the terrorism charge filed against him.
A three-member panel panel of the court, in a ruling on Friday, upheld the Federal Government’s application and ordered that the execution of the judgment be put on hold pending the determination of the appeal filed against the judgment by the government.
Justice Haruna Tsanami, who read the lead ruling, ordered the FG to expedite action on the appeal it filed by ensuring prompt transmission of regards among others.
It was gathered that one of the counsels to Kanu, Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor had twitted that they (Kanu’s Legal Team) were notified that the judgment would be delivered by 3pm today.
Reacting to the judgment, Barr. Ejiofor said “I urge you all to remain calm, and be rest assured that the Ruling of the Court of Appeal today, did not interfere in any way with the status of its judgement discharging Onyendu.
“The judgement of the Court of Appeal discharging Onyendu and striking out the seven count charge still subsists, it has not been set aside.
