The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has paraded four persons nabbed for allegedly dealings in illegal petroleum products.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia, the state capital, the Commandant of the NSCDC in the state, Muhammad H. Sanyinna said “three of the suspects were arrested at Ubakala junction along the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway while conveying about 33 tons (33,000 liters) of bitumen also known as MC1 in a blue coloured truck with reg. no. Kaduna KWL 984 XB.”
Speaking further, the NSCDC State Commandant said “One (1) of the suspects was also arrested at Ubakala junction along Enugu Port Harcourt Express way while conveying about 50,000 Litres of DPK also known as Kerosene in a Mark truck with registration no. KTU 109XZ.
He went further to disclose that a passenger vehicle with registration no. Rivers State AH 265 PBT loaded with about 800liters suspected adulterated AGO was intercepted at Owaza, Ukwa East LGA of Abia State after the suspect abandoned it on sighting Men of the Anti Vandal team on routine patrol.”
“However, upon interrogation, the suspects gave their names as Mustapha Adamu (36)(M), Isah Adamu (32) (M), Anas Muhammed (22) (M) and Chinedu Owen.
“Meanwhile, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects have no Operational Licence to deal on petroleum products.
“The trucks used in conveying the products have no haulage permit.3. The products have no purchase receipts.”
The State Commandant thanked the Commandant General – Ahmed Abubakar Audi for his support for the Command in the areas of logistics and other welfare packages which serve as great motivation to the personnel in the discharge of their assigned duties.
Sanyinna specifically attributed the renewed vigour and commitment among his Men in the fight against oil theft to the recent promotion exercise during which over 5,000 personnel were promoted and said that the Command’s performance index is expected to rise in the days ahead.
He equally praised the gallantry and professionalism of Officers and Men of the Command who he said acted on a tip off to successfully arrest the suspects.

The NSCDC Commandant warned those indulging in illegal dealings in petroleum products to look for other legitimate means of livelihood as the Corps will not spare anyone caught in oil theft or any other form of illegal dealing in petroleum products while assuring that upon conclusion of investigations, the suspects will be charged to a Court of Competent jurisdiction for diligent prosecution.
