A journalist with The Nation narrowly escaped death at the weekend when gunmen stormed his home.

The reporter, who said he had been receiving death threats, said the gunmen arrived at his home in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) shortly after he returned from work at about 7 pm.

He said: “I was removing my laptop and other items from my car when I heard the sound of motorcycles outside. Out of curiosity, I peeped through the gate and saw over six motorcycle riders close to the gate. I had to scale the fence and escaped.

“From where I was hiding, I heard them banging the gate. I was praying that my wife and kids should not come back home then. The gunmen stayed for over 40 minutes before leaving.”

The reporter disclosed that he had been “living in fear” because of “ death threats I was receiving through hidden telephone numbers.”

He, however, said he had reported the incident to the Police.

The reporter added: “I have gone into hiding with my wife and children. My biggest “I am appealing to the authorities to come to my rescue.
