Brother to the late husband of former Director General of NAFDAC (National Agency For Food and Drug Administration); Dr. Chike Akunyili, Chike Akunyili has accused the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) operatives for gruesomely murdering late Prof. Dora Akunyili’s husband at Nkpor in Anambra State yesterday.
Cyril made this allegation in a facebook post on Wednesday morning.
Late Dr. Akunyili was killed by unknown gunmen along with his Police orderly at Nkpor Junction, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
Dr Akunyili was on his way to Agulu; his hometown after receiving an award for the late wife from a group understood to be her classmates at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka,in Onitsha yesterday.
Late Chike Akunyili had received the award and was on her way back to Agulu, his hometown on Tuesday night when his vehicle was attacked and was shot at point range in the face and killed.
The family was contacted late in the night and because of the security situation, they made arrangements to visit Nkpor on Wednesday morning.
They identified the body and are making arrangements to convey the body to the mortuary
The President General of Agulu Progressive Union, Honourable Onyebuchi Okpala, who first announced the death of Dr Akunyili in a post titled: “Agulu Mourns their Diamond Son by, PG Agulu.”
Okpala said: “Agbalanze was killed by Unknown Gunmen. May the Lord console Akunyili family and Ndi Agulu in general. RIP.”
A poster wrote “God, pls render the devil and his agents powerless and useless.
I was with this man yesterday same yesterday at Sharon Hall, All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha.
“It was an occasion of University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA), Onitsha branch event where they honoured late Dora Akunyili.
“He spoke glowingly about Dora and made a donation of 500k to the association.
He was there with his son ,Obum now working with Anambra state government.
“We saw them off to the car and it was emotional when Obum hugged him tight as both of them separated to join their respective vehicles.
“Obum was in a white Hilux while the man was in a big Jeep (i think Prado).
