Information from the Abia State Police Command Headquarters has it that Corporal, Chinedu Nwachukwu, who was arrested following allegation of raped of a female student of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba has been dismissed from the police force.
Corporal Nwachukwu’s dismissal, our correspondent gathered came after after a Tuesday orderly room trial according to the code of conducts guiding the police force.
Reports have it that the dismissed officer who was attached to the Eziama Police Station, Aba would be arraigned before the court in the state.
It was gathered that Corporal Nwachukwu was found guilty of the rape allegation leveled against him by the female victim, who is a student of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba.
A security source said that the administrative procedure which among other things includes the orderly room trial and subsequent dismissal prepares him for prosecution in court.
Recall that this medium had reported that Abia State Police Command said it has arrested the Police officer that raped the female student of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Abia State.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Geoffrey Ogbonna gave the name of the said policeman as Nwachukwu Chinedu, who is attached to the Eziama Police Division.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Janet Agbede, being a woman and a mother has been on her toes with other officers in the command to douse the tension and to find out what actually happened.
“The Commissioner of Police and her management team visited and listened to the victim in the hospital.
“After hearing from the victim, a serious investigation started through which the police man, Cpl. Nwachukwu Chinedu that committed the barbaric act was arrested but not attached to Rapid Response Squad Aba (RRS) as alleged by the protesters”, the statement read.
