"Be Humble In Discharging Your Duties"-Abia Speaker Tasks LG Chairmen/Councilors

Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State on Monday July 12th came alive as it hosts chairmen, deputies and councilors from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state who would be participating in a 2-day Capacity Workshop.

The workshop was organized at Royal Cruise Hotel, Okpuala Ngwa, by Hon. Darlington Nwokocha, Member representing Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly, and Hon Ginger Onwusibe, Member representing Isiala Ngwa North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly.

The event also attracted the presence of the Deputy Governor of the State, Ude Okochukwu that also represented his boss; Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Hon. Nwokocha and among others.

Addressing the participants, the Speaker Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum E. Orji charged the LGA council elected officials to ensure that they improve on themselves in order to meet the yearnings of the people of the state, especially those at the grassroots.

He admonished the participants to take advantage of the workshop to assimilate and put the lessons learnt into practice.

The two-term Abia State Assembly lawmaker who have been able to empower uncountable youths and indigent members of the society, challenged the participants to imbibe the virtue of humility and avoid being confrontational while discharging their duties.

Rt. Hon. Orji suggested that the elected local government officials should try as much as they could, to operate in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility for the sake of their people which he noted to be a springboard for development in their various LGAs.

According to the Speaker, citizens have the right to criticise government policies constructively, adding that it should be done without attacking person(s) which he noted could heat up and create rancorous situations in the polity.

While commending the organisers of the workshop for the quality of both human and material resources deployed, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji described Hon Darlington Nwokocha and Hon Ginger Onwusibe as Legislators with the interest of the people at heart, saying their people-oriented projects even as lawmakers are exemplary and worthy of emulation.

He thanked the Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu who was also present at the event for always standing by his friends, saying it is an attribute of good leadership.
