Body Of Deceased Girl Wrapped Far Away Protest Ground
Lagos State Police Commissioner

Contrary to reports making rounds that personnel of the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force killed a 14-year-old girl during the Oodua Rally in Lagos State, Nigeria, the Commissioner of Police, in the state says the body of the deceased was found wrapped and found at a distance from from the protest ground.

This is even as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu in a statement signed by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Command’s PPRO on behalf of his boss maintained that none of its personnel fire live bullet at the Ojota protesters.

The police in the statement further stated that a close look at the body of the deceased showed that the body of the deceased was not fresh and that a wound on her was suspected to have come from injury of a sharp object.

He warned those he described as Mischief-makers to stop peddling fake and unconfirmed news, stressing that it could be dangerous and counterproductive to engage in promoting fake and false news.

Below is the unedited text of the Lagos State Police Command’s Press Statement.
