Soldiers in Abia State destroy illegal refinery in Rivers State

Soldiers of 14 Brigade, attached to the 144 Battalion Headquarters of the Nigerian Army in Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State have reportedly destroyed an illegal crude oil refinery in Rivers State.

It was gathered that the operation was done in conjunction with the operatives of the Department of the State Security (DSS) on joint patrol within the Owaza area of Abia State.

No arrest was made, but our correspondent gathered that the team were able to recover a commercial bus used in conveying the stolen crude from Abia State to Rivers State after the driver abandoned the car and ran into the bush.

Information has it that the driver of the car locked the steering of the car which stalled the attempt to move to their location.

The car and its content were subsequently set ablaze by the team.

A military source who confirmed the confiscation of the bus used in conveying the product, added that the bus was equally set ablaze.

The source disclosed that the bus was confiscated at Odogba community in Rivers State.
