Ohanaeze backs appointment of new service chiefs

The factional leadership of Apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Engr. Chidi Ibeh has lauded President Muhamamdu Buhari’s sack of the former security chiefs.

In a statement issued by the factional President-General of Ohanaeze, Ibeh described the sack of the former service chiefs and their subsequent replacement by the President Buhari as prayer answered.

Ibeh in the statement expressed hope that the appointment of the service chiefs would ensure change of tactics towards solving insecurity challenges that have bedeviled Nigeria in the last 5 years.

According to him, the appointment of the new service chiefs is a new dawn for Nigeria towards defeating Boko Haram insurgents and bandits ravaging the north. 

He said that President Buhari through his action has demonstrated the courage and political Will in resuscitating the faith of Nigerians reposed in his government to tackle insecurity in the country, adding that the former service chiefs do not have the ideas to deal with the insecurity challenges that have bedeviled the country.

The group therefore used the opportunity to urge President Buhari to give the new service chiefs a clear mandate to crush Boko Haram insurgents while maintaining strict professionalism in the discharge of their professional mandates.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated courage and political will by the removal of former service chiefs who had ran out of ideas and has resuscitated faiths of millions of Nigerians by ejecting new hands to take over the country’s security architectures, these new services chiefs should be given a clear mandate to crush Boko Haram insurgents and bandits, while maintaining strict Professionalism in discharging their new mandates.
