The leadership of Apex Igbo Youth Organization; Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Congress (OYC) World Wide Southeast political class against believing that the people of the zone have political future in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Southeast over the years is touted to be one of the strongest PDP strongholds in the country as the party until the time of filing the report is controlling three (Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu State respectively) out of the five states in the zone.
OYC in a Press Statement issued by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro (OYC President General) and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike (Secretary General) after their consultative virtual meeting on Monday with some Igbo leaders and elders, said that the group has been mandated to start mounting pressures on the southeast Governors to abandon their political parties especially those in the PDP to join the All Progressive Congress (APC) without further delay.
OYC in the statement warned the governors against believing that there are still political benefits for the people of southeast in a Political Party the group alleged that has no respect and value for igbos except milking their votes during elections through deceitful “mediums and fake promises, and manipulative politicians.”
According to OYC, “Igbos deserve better deals in the southeast region, and only through Active roles in mainstream political party, can bountifully increase dividends of democracy and projects in the southeast zone, the continuous exclusion of southeast zone from federal government’s crucial political appointments and landmark projects are attributed to Igbo’s absence in the mainstream, and Igbo youths want this unpleasant situations to end and urge southeast Governors to embrace APC and decamp without further delay.
“OYC is calling on southeast Governors to save Igbo political future by collapsing the three PDP governed states into APC before the APC’s national convention in order to control their state structures, because changing sad political narratives of Igbos are imminent and sacrosanct, as it will serves as sanctions to PDP leadership, to reverse their earlier decision for an open presidential contest to zoning formula enshrined in her party’s constitution that favours Igbo presidency project.
