Anambra State Police command has reportedly one Ogbonna Nwankwo for attempting murdering his victim identified as Bella Joseph.
Nwankwo was arrested after his attempt to kill Miss Joseph failed.
The incident was said to have occurred at Dollar inn motel, ihite in Orumba South LGA of the state.
The command said that the suspect and the victim were admitted at Specialist Hospital, Nnewi where they are currently be treated.
Report from the command has it that the suspect after stabbing his victim attempted to cut off her breast, but luck however, ran out on him when the manager of the motel met him in the act after they heard the cry of the victim and had gone to verify the reason for the cry, to behold the ugly scene.
The Umunze Police Divisional Officer was said to have been alerted by the manager of the hotel and upon arriving the scene, the suspect and victim were evacuated from the scene to the hospital for treatment.
The Anambra State Command spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed disclosed that a blood stained knief was recovered from the scene by the police.
Mohammed said that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for continued investigation.
“On the 2/9/2020 at about 8:am,there was a report of attempted murder of one Bella Joseph ‘f’ aged 29years and residing at Dollar inn motel ihite in Orumba South LGA of Anambra State by lodger one Ogbonna Nwankwo ‘m’ aged 41years of Ihite town in the same LGA.
“Suspect allegedly attempted to murder the lady inside the motel room by stabbing victim with a knife on her stomach and tried to cut off her right side breast using same knife probably for ritual purpose thinking she was dead before he was apprehended following her shout for help which attracted attention of the motel manager.
“Consequently, scene was visited by Police operatives attached to Umunze division and the victim rushed to specialist hospital Nnewi for treatment.
“The suspect who was seriously manhandled by angry mob and beaten to stupor was equally arrested by the police and taken to the hospital for treatment under police guard.
“Meanwhile,a blood stained knife was recovered at the scene as exhibit and the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal investigation department for discreet investigation in order to unravel the actual circumstances surrounding the incident,” read in parts.
