COVID-19: Security chiefs tour Enugu/Kogi land boundaries

Security chiefs in Enugu State on Thursday paid a visit to the boundaries between the state and Kogi state respectively.

A release by Daniel E. Ndukwe has it that the visit of the security chiefs which was led by the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmad AbdurRahman was to have on the spot assessment of activities of its personnel on the borders.

Ndukwe in a release obtained by infonet9ja.com, AbdurRahman urged officers of various security agencies at the border and in the state to cooperate with one another.

“In furtherance of his weekly inspection tour of Enugu land boundaries to inspect the level of compliance and enforcement of the border closure order by Security Operatives, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman, MCPSS, MCJ MNIM on 12th May 2020 in company of Air Commore Chidiebere Obiabaka, Commander, 553 Services Base Group of the Nigerian Airforce, Enugu and some Senior Police Officers visited the Okutu-Nsukka/Ugwukola border point between Enugu and Kogi States.

“At the border, the CP, while turning back a few vehicles intending to come into the State, warned the motorists and passengers to desist from testing the resolve of the Police and other Security Agencies to enforce the order as expected.

“He enjoined them to find reasons to voluntarily comply with all the COVID-19 pandemic restriction/containment measures, as they remain the best ways of combating the scourge.

“Addressing Operatives of the Police and Nigerian Army manning the border, the Commissioner tasked them to collaborate effectively and adhere strictly to the enforcement rules of engagement.

“When you synergize and do the right thing, then we won’t have problems or complaints from any quarter. So be dedicated and resolute to perform this duty with the required zeal and the fear of God.”
