Mother, daughter abducted by gunmen kidnapped in Aba

A yet-to-be-identified woman said to be a resident of Aba, the commercial nerve of Abia State has been reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen.

This is even as eyewitnesses claimed that the daughter of the woman was equally abducted.

The incident is said to have occurred along Umuocham road (one of the exit and entrance routes to the heart of the commercial city) in Osisioma Local Government Area of the State.

Sources in the area disclosed that the gunmen numbering four operated a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), while the woman was said to be driving a Honda CRV with a passenger who was later understood to be her daughter.

According to the sources, the four men who had pump action gun, after overtaking and successfully forcing the woman and her daughter into their car also drove their Honda CRV behind them.

The sources said that from indications, it seems like the woman and her daughter may have been monitored by the hoodlums from the city center without the knowledge of the two occupants of the Honda CRV.

When contacted, a source in one of the security agencies in Aba who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident.

According to the source, the woman and her daughter were on their way to their village when the gunmen struck.

The source who said that they were yet to have an official account of the incident told our reporter that an informant told them that the woman took advantage of a traffic situation to open the car and escape.

The hoodlums was said to have driven off with the daughter as she was not as smart as her mum.

The source said that the family of the victims is yet to come and make formal entry of the matter, as it maintained that they can only swing into action if a formal complaint about the incident is made by the affected family or even relations.
