Ex-major General arrested for arms dealing in Abia

A yet-to-be known Ex-Major-General in the Nigerian Army has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Nigerian Police in Abia State for arms dealing. 
Though the name of the said army General was not mentioned, it was gathered that several arms including AK47, pump-action and pistols were among the guns recovered from him and members of his cartel.
Speaking at the Police headquarters in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon while parading about 17 suspects arrested for various offences including a kidnap kingpin said that the police have launched manhunt on other syndicates in an attempt to recover guns sold to some buyers.

Okon who hinted that the police was ready to ensure that Abians have a crime free Christmas also disclosed that operatives of Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) under the command on credible tip off stormed and demolished a hard drug bunk at Isiala Ngwa North LGA operated by two well known indigenes of the area,  adding that 10 persons were arrested with large quantity of hard drugs in the notorious drug bunk. 
The State Police Chief while appraising the achievements of the command under his watch, he disclosed that 127 persons were arrested for Armed robbery, 144 for kidnapping, 5 for arms dealing, 150 persons arrested for cultism, 20 persons for motorcycle snatching, while the police rescued 79 kidnapped victims from February till date. 
According to Okon, 88 vehicles, 120 fire arms and 528 ammunition were recovered under the year in review while 658 suspects have been charged to court.
