Unknown Gunmen kidnap medical doctor in Delta

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped a resident doctor, Mr. Jerry Isogun, a staff of the Delta State Teaching Hospital, (DELSUTH) Oghara,Ethiope West L.G.A.

The victim who is the President, Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) of the tertiary teaching hospital was abducted Wednesday night as he travelled from Oghara to Sapele ,Sapele L.G.A.

It was gathered that two doctors recently escaped kidnap attempts in the past month.

The public relations officer, Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), DELSUTH Dr Harrison Adja who confirmed the kidnap in a telephone interview yesterday decried the upsurge in criminality in the area, and urged security agents to tackle crime.

He attributed the rise in violent crime on the many bad spots along the Benin -Warri Expressway while calling in the Federal Government to expedite work on the road.

He said, ” It is even worse considering the fact that an attempt was made on one of our colleagues last month, and another one escaped the same kidnappers just about 20minutes before the President was kidnapped at Mosogar. There has been a rise in the spate of kidnapping and armed robbery activities, at several bad spots along the Oghara-Sapele-Warri and Oghara-Benin axis”.

Adja urged Delta State Government, security agents, and traditional rulers to beef up security around these areas in a bid to stem violent crime in the area.
