The Nov. 16 governorship election in Kogi state with large turn out of voters in several polling units in Kogi East Senatorial District.
At Ogbelo 001, Aloji Ward polling unit, which has two voting points A and B, where a large crowd had come out to exercise their franchise, the presiding officer, Ibilike Victor, said the exercise was going smoothly.
He however complained that result sheet for the second voting point B was hey to arrived at about 10am.
At Government Secondary School, Ologba in Dekina, a large crowd was also witnessed carying on the voting exercise in a peaceful manner.
At Odu Market Square polling unit, which had three voting points, there were some arguments as it was observed by the voters that the stamp used for the ballot papers in one of the points had a 2015 date on it.
The situation led to an uproar, which the presiding officer, Daniel Imokheude managed to quell by convincing the voters that it would be signed with a 2019 and that their votes would still be valid.
Imokhuede told our reporter that besides this mixup everything was going smoothly.
At this polling unit where the governor’s candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Musa Wada, voted, he described the process as peaceful so far.
“Having voted, the election looks peaceful for now, although for APC their stock in trade is to snatch ballot boxes there was an attempt by one of their hooligan but he was repelled but you know they will always go to regroup and come back. I have advised the voters to stay and defend their votes very well,” he said.
