President Kagame launches first smartphone factory in Rwanda

The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame has launched first Smartphone factory in the country.

This is coming years after the country is coming out of a devastating genocidal war (between the Hutu and Tutsi) and that crippled the economy of the African country between 7th of April and 15th of July 1994 during which the Rwandan Civil War lasted.

Infonet9ja.com reports that the Smartphone factory is coming at a time when the country is digitizing its services, from money transfer, mobile payments to government services.

The locally made Smart phones according to reports would be available on the local and international markets within the next two months.

This is coming at a time when the so-called “Giant of Africa” is still importing toothpicks, pencils, finished petroleum products and among other items into the country.
