Unconfirmed information has it that the said assailants also removed the heart of the victim.
Information about the incident on Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway was still sketchy, report has it that the body of the victim was cut into pieces and abandoned in a sack bag.
Some respondents who spoke to our reporter raised concerns over ritual killing which they said is gradually creeping into the commercial city.
According to Mr. Gilbert Ezechukwu early callers to the scene at Bata junction disclosed that the killers of the young man pushed him out of a moving vehicle.
“If you take a close look at his lap, you will see that it was bruised and his shirts torn. People who were here early in the morning said that he was pushed out of a moving vehicle heading towards park.
“They claimed that the bus on getting to that junction before Aba South joined the fire service road from where they disappeared.”
Ezechukwu while calling government and other security agencies to be on the lookout for the people committing these heinous crimes said that Aba should not be allowed to degenerate “to the period were ritual killing was the order of the day. Some years back, it became worse that there is no day that passes without you seeing corpse lying on major roads and streets.”
When contacted, the Abia State Police Command Spokesman, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna said that the police in Aba are working in collaboration with the Health authorities to evacuate the body of the young man from the scene,
Ogbonna who could not attribute the death of the Bata victim to ritual killing said that the police and the health personnel that would be evacuating the corpse were going to carry out examination on the body of the deceased to determine if there were missing parts.
He said that the outcome of the examination would be made public as soon as they were through with it.
On the alleged growing incidents of ritual killing in Aba and its environs, the Abia Police spokesman said that the command was yet to receive reports of any incident of ritual killing from its Divisions.
