A southeast group, Coalition of South East Youth Leaders has cautioned the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba and other union leaders staging what it described as “senseless” protests against the Minister of Labour, Senator Chris Ngige to desist forthwith.
The group in a release on Monday in Abia State which was signed by Chief Goodluck E. Ibem, President General and Comrade Kanice Igwe, Secretary General said that the group condemned in strong terms, incessant protests against Ngige by NLC.
This is even as they rebuked Wabba for allegedly calling the Labour minister a native doctor.
The group while applauding President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Austin Enajemo-Isire and Mrs. Ijeoma Okoronkwo as Secretary said that they were convinced that the appointment of the duo will bring sanity to the NSIFT with their administrative knowledge and experience.
“We condemn in strong terms the continuous protest by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) lead by Ayuba Wabba even when president Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Labour and Employment to inaugurated Austin Enajemo-Isire as Chairman and Mrs. Ijeoma as Secretary of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSIFT).
“That the situation where Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) will say that Dr. Chris Ngige is not qualified to be a “doctor but a native doctor” is regrettable that such statement will be coming from NLC. It is only miscreants and misfits that can utter such unprintable words against the person of Dr. Ngige who had been the best governor Anambra state has ever produce.
“That the continuous protest is a gross personal vendetta against Dr. Chris Ngige who is been attacked simply because he void the plan of comrade Ayuba Wabba to used his friend Frank Kokori to loot and liquidate NSIFT . Ayuba claim that he is fighting for workers is not true.He is only pursuing his personal interest.
“We commend Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige for uncovering the evil plot of Ayuba to used Frank Kokori to loot the treasury of NSIFT dry.
“We condemn the irresponsible statement by Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) admonishing president Buhari to conduct psychiatric test on his cabinet members to ascertain their mental stability. It is unfortunate that such opprobrious statement will be made by ASUU president. We warn him to desist from such behavior.
“We call on Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi and Ayuba Wabba to within 48 hours apologize to the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment Dr. Chris Ngige or face the rot of COSEYL.
“That Wabba has no right to falsely accuse Dr. Ngige of hiring thugs to attack Nigerian workers.
“If Wabba feels that he is right about his false claims, he is free to go to court. It is only the court that adjudicates disputes.
“The continuous protest, lawlessness and a breach of peace to both Dr. Ngige and Abuja residents by his unwarranted actions, Wabba has infringe on the fundamental human right of Dr. Ngige.
“We urge the Nigerian police and other security agencies to arrest Wabba in order to maintain peace and order.
