In what seems as his resolve to whittle down the powers of the incumbent Emir of Kano State, Sanusi lamido Sanusi, Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has reportedly appointed Aminu Ado Bayero, son of late emir of Kano Ado Bayero as the pioneer emir of the newly established Bichi Emirate.
Bayero held the title of Wamban Kano, a senior member at the Kano Emirate Council presided over by Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Kano.
In an announcement on radio stations, Ganduje was reported to have appointed three other emirs for Gaya, Rano and Karaye emirates.
The emir of Gaya is Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, the emir of Rano is Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila while the Emir of Karaye is Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Abukakar ll.
The carving out of additional emirates by the State House of Assembly has continued to generate mixed reactions from Kano indigenes and Nigerians.
However, in what seems to be a hit back to critics, Ganduje in a twitter post on his handle @GovUmarGanduje, tweeted “For easier local administration as Kano state moves in a new direction to deliver community based growth, we have decided to create 4 new Emirates for our great state.”
