Abia Poly holds convocation 9 years after

The acting rector, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Prof. Ezionye Eboh has announced that the institution would be holding convocation for students that graduated from the institution within the second semester of the current academic session.

This is coming nine years after the Aba based institution held the last convocation for its graduate students.

Eboh, speaking at Pavilion of the institution at an event to mark the 25th matriculation ceremony of the Aba based school announced that a committee made up of various individuals have been mandated by the management to plan for the event.

The rector who assured the students of the readiness of the management and staff of the institution in ensuring that the students were provided with the necessary support towards their academic success while their studentship lasted, charged fresh and old students of the institution to work hard in order to excel in their academic pursuits in the institution.

Abia Poly rector who also used the opportunity of the auspicious event to reel out some of the steps taken by the management of the polytechnic to ensure that there was uninterrupted flow of the academic calendar in the academic community, disclosed that efforts were being made by the management for academic activities to take off at the Osisioma permanent site of the institution with the 2019/2020 academic session.

According to him, the management of the institution was working assiduously to ensure that all their National and Higher National Diploma courses would be accredited by the National the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation team that would be visiting the school between May and June this year.

The rector who also informed the audience that the school was making frantic efforts to attract local and international partnership and collaboration disclosed that the polytechnic has entered into agreement to partner with the ICT University, Louisiana, USA which has attracted donation of ICT equipment and other related materials that worth several thousands of US Dollars. This is even as he (Eboh) thanked the National Communication Commission (NCC) for providing the school with hundreds of laptops and tablets.

He also stated that the polytechnic now has free 24hr internet services which he noted would help the students with their assignments and other research works they would wish to read and download within the campus.

Eboh thanked the visitor of the school and Governor of the state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for the support that he has given to the school and its management, stating that they look forward to continued government support.

Some of the students who spoke with our reporter promised that they would take their studies seriously, promising to abide by the rules and regulations guiding their conduct on campus.
