Ahead of the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ward congress across the 17 Local Government Areas of the State on Saturday, September 7, the state chairman, Chief Johnson Onuigbo on Friday announced the resolve of the party to adopt the option A4 system of voting to elect the three man delegates that are expected to emerge from the exercise.
Speaking to Journalists at the party secretariat Fibers road Umuahia, the State party chairman Onuigbo, urged all the members of the party in the state to feel free to participate in the exercise and elect the candidates of their choice.
Onuigbo who assured that the election would be free and fair stated that the party would not give automatic ticket to any aspirant, pointing that all elective offices are open for contest in Abia.
He urge all the aspirants under the platform of the party to do well to engage with the electorate properly, because there will be a level playing ground for all aspirants.
The party chairman also noted that they have made every position in the state contestably, adding that there will no impunity or imposition of candidates.
Onuigbo encouraged women in the party to come forward and obtain the party nomination forms for free and contest elective positions of their choice to increase the number of women in political offices in the state.
