“Buhari will leave Southeast better than he met it”-Adesina

The Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina has assured Abians and the people of the Southeast that zone would witness massive infrastructural development before the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership led by Buhari leaves office.

 

Adesina who represented President Buhari at the commissioning and flag off of a 5.5km road attracted by Dr. Alex Otti, 2015 gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and built by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) at Isieketa community in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.

The presidential spokesman who lamented the infrastructural decay in the country inherited by the Buhari’s administration assured that President Buhari would do all it could to ensure that the infrastructural deficits that his administration met in office were tackled.

 

“One thing that is dear to the heart of President Buhari is infrastructure; roads, railway, power, etc. Nigeria has a lot of deficits in infrastructure and President Muhammadu Buhari is determined to reverse that deficit. One examples of such determination is this road attracted to this road attracted to this area by one of their illustrious sons; Dr. Alex Otti and built by NDDC.

“We will see that by the time this administration ends Igbo land will never be the same again. Igbo will be far be beyond where it has ever been before.”

In his speech, the 2019 gubernatorial aspirant of the APGA, Dr. Otti thanked the federal government who through the road project has given the Isieketa community and its environs new lease of life, adding that the farming community who have suffered losses in the past would now have access road to move their farm produce to nearby villages and commercial cities.

Otti also disclosed to the cheering crowd that another 12.5km road which stretches from the point where the 5.5km road ended to Aba-Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway has been awarded by the federal government through the NDDC.

 

“There was no access to a larger part of this place. So I used the contact that God has blessed one with to appeal to the federal government through NDDC to come and build the road and they did.

 

“They came, approved and sent a contractor who delivered it at a record time. I have gone back to them to thank them for a job well-done and asked for extension of the road.

 

“They have by the special grace of God awarded a 12.5km road from the place that they stopped to the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway around Mbawsi and in two weeks, they will commence work. You haven’t seen anything yet, that is just what we are doing from outside. When we get there, we will do a whole lot more,” Alex stated.

The contractor of the Messrs Solberg Nigeria Limited, Chief Engineer Chibuike Achigbu announced that the road was stone based and carefully done with standard materials, stressing the community cleans the drainage and avoid blocking it, that it could last for about 50years.

 

The traditional ruler of the community, His Majesty Eze Nelson Emerengwa and other members of the benefitting community who could not hide their joy recalled the sufferings of the people before the intervention of the federal government through NDDC and their son; Otti.

 

Eze Emerengwa who stated that the positive impact of the road to the community can never be overemphasized also used the opportunity to thank the federal government for remembering the community.
