The feud between Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Kabiru Adjoto and the Deputy Speaker, Victor Edoror, over the money spent to renovate the Assembly complex was blown open Monday.
Hon Adjoto began the process of removing Edoror as Deputy Speaker by setting up a committee to investigate him for breach of legislative powers.
The setting up of the committee shocked Edoror as he only read about it on the social media.
Edoror was accused divulging of official secret to opposition political parties and the general public.
Adjoto who set up the five-man committee during Monday’s plenary said the allegations were weighty and capable of bringing the house to disrepute
He named Hon Nosayaba Okunbor (APC Orhionmwon East) as chairman of the committee while others are Mr Victor Asein, ( APC Owan West), Mr Osaigbovo Iyoha, ( APC Orhionmwon Oredo East) , Mr Festus Edughele, ( APC Esan South-East) and Mr Patrick Iruobe,( PDP Esan North East 1).
The Speaker said the committee has up to Wednesday, June 27 to submit its report.
Sources said there has been a cold war between Adjoto and Edoror over how financial matters of the assembly were handled.
A lawmaker who pleaded anonymity said the Deputy Speaker has not been happy that he was not carried along in the scheme of things.
Reacting to the development, Edoror said Speaker Adjoto does not know what he is saying.
He described the statement as vague, frivolous and lacking in merit.
Edoror added that it was a calculated attempt to bring his name he has built over the years to disrepute.
