Workers of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba were yet to receive their June salary 24hrs after the state government announced that civil servants in the state have started receiving their salary, infonet9ja.com has learnt.
Recall that the state government in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Kazie Uko disclosed that civil servants in the state started receiving their June salary on Wednesday after the governor, Dr. Alex Otti had ordered the payment of their June salary during the swearing-in ceremony of the State Judicial Panel on the recovery of government property and funds at Government House in Umuahia, the state capital.
Infonet9ja.com gathered on Thursday that Abia Polytechnic’s have not received their June salary.
Apart from the Abia State Polytechnic workers, it was gathered that other who were yet to receive their June salary at the time of filing the report include, workers of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH), Abia School of Health Workers and among other parastatals and agencies of the state government.
Some staff of the state Ministry of Health who confirmed that some of their members have received their June salary, claimed that they were yet to receive theirs. This is even as they attributed the delay to their banks.
Some others who didn’t get their salary were however apprehensive over their fate as civil servants in the state.
Investigation had it that the management of the ABSUTH had already submitted their December, 2022 nominal roll to the head of service of the state, as directed by the governor and we’re awaiting payment into the hospital’s account where members would be paid from.
It was however different for staff of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba who would be submitting their staff nominal roll by tomorrow (Friday) as information had it that they got information about the new government’s directives, which was the reason they were yet to pay their staff.
A source in the polytechnic while confirming that the workers were yet to get their June salary, said that it was not the fault of the state government that they haven’t been paid their June salary.
“We were asked to come to school yesterday (Wednesday) to cross-check our names, bank details and other things.
“We learnt that they will be submitting the list in Umuahia tomorrow because of the two days public holidays.

“If the management will be active and go to Umuahia early morning tomorrow, we may see our salary Friday. If not, it is either they graciously pay us during the weekend or we have to wait till next week, hopefully.”
