The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and the PDP flagbearer for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the 2023 general elections, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji MNSE, yesterday received another huge endorsement from the people of Okwulaga Afaraukwu.

The endorsement came at the final match of the Ikuku Unity Cup Okwulaga 2022 sponsored by the Chairman of Ohobo Okwulaga Afaraukwu Community, Chief Charles Offor.

Speaking at the event, Chief Offor extolled the virtues of Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji whom he described as a compassionate, considerate and caring leader who singlehandedly provided, installed and energised power transformers for several communities across the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency including Umuizu Okwulaga, and also ensuring that the people enjoyed the festive season with light having been in darkness in the months prior.

While appreciating the Speaker for his presence at the final of the football tournament, the Ohobo community Chairman said it was a reflection of the Speaker’s love for the youths in particular and the people in general, declaring that the entire Okwulaga community has resolved to adopt him as their sole candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the 2023 general elections.

Also speaking, the Eze of Okwulaga community, the Okwu 1 of Okwulaga, HRH Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi, expressed delight at the Speaker for his exploits in leadership which he described as both exemplary and uncommon, and thanked him for his great show of love to the people of his domain.

He recalled how the Speaker was in Okwulaga in November to support the women of the domain on the occasion of their fundraising for a “Corpers’ Lodge” and also the donation, installation and enegisation of a power transformers to the people of Umuizu Okwulaga. He reiterated the people’s resolve to adopt him as their sole candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the 2023 general elections.

Responding, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji said he was elated to be in the midst of the people as always, reiterating his commitment to ensure that no community in the constituency is in darkness as a result of transformer issues.

He said the 2023 general elections is not about peddling of falsehood, propaganda, or mudslinging against political rivals but about selling one’s competence, character and achievements for the people.

He thanked Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi for keeping the community together in harmony, and the sponsor of the football tournament, Chief Charles Offor for sponsoring the tournament which he said was another avenue to keep the youths of the community meaningfully engaged and also serve as an avenue for discovering budding talents in Okwulaga.
