The LG verification tour of the governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Abia state, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, entered day three, as he visited Ukwa East and Ukwa West LGAs, the country home of his running mate, Prof. Osondu Akoma.
On the arrival of Chief Mascot and his entourage in Ukwa East, he paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty (HRM), Eze Anthony Wabara, Mbele 1 of Ohambele Autonomous Community.
Afterward, he proceeded to the LGA party secretariat of APP in Ohanso-Ndoki, Ukwa East, where he met with executive members of the party and those of the Reality Organization and MUK Movement.
Addressing the executive members of the three organizations, Chief Kalu told them that Ukwa East has no reason not to give APP block votes, adding that it has been a long time in the history of Abia that any party has given Ukwa men the deputy governorship slot and senatorial ticket.
He further assured of his commitment to resuscitate the Abia Palm and execute the Asa deep sea project, which would create job employment opportunities for Ukwa youths.
Today’s verification tour, thereafter, ended in Ukwa West at the party secretariat of APP.
However, while receiving the APP’s governorship candidate, the people of Ukwa West decried the deplorable condition of their area, despite being the treasure base of Abia state.

In his remark, Chief Kalu promised them that he would not be a governor and watch Ukwa West remain in a deplorable condition. He further added that, for being an oil-producing area, a minimum of 4O KM of roads will be constructed in the LGA, even though part of his manifesto is to construct a minimum of 10—15 KM of roads in each LGA of the state.
