Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted the priest in-charge of St. Theresa Catholic Church Parish in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
The parish priest who was identified as Rev. Fr. Godfrey Mark Chimezie was said to have been abducted Wednesday morning along Enyiukwu road in Ohokobe Afaraukwu-Ibeku part of Umuahia, the state capital.
According to reports from residents of the area, the kidnappers who were armed to the teeth intercepted the catholic clergy after he had concluded the early morning mass at St. Gabriel church, Opururie Afaraukwu.
The priest was said to have been forced out of his Toyota Corolla car into their own SUV and sped away.
Those that know the catholic priest said that who is an indigene of Enugu State was ordained a priest earlier this year.
When contacted the Abia State Police Command Spokesman, Geoffrey Ogbonna in a telephone interview stated that he was yet to get report on the said incident.

He however, urged friends, relations and parishioners of the abducted catholic priest to go to the nearest police station to make formal complaint of the matter, adding that the command had swung into action to ascertain the veracity of the kidnap incident.
