Police Begins Investigation Into The Death Of Family Of Seven

The Abia State Police Command says, autopsy to determine why seven members of a family would lose their lives after reportedly eating the popular suya delicacy.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna in a chat with Infonet9ja.com disclosed that the bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at unnamed morgue.

The Police Spokesman said that autopsy would be conducted on the corpses at the mortuary for preservation, to determine the cause of their death.

Reports have it that the deceased members of the family reportedly died after eating the popular beef meat delicay with juice in their home at Umueze Umuakanu in Umuahia North LGA of the state.

Sources said that the man identified as Mr. Jessey was said to have bought the suya for all the family members, including extended family who came for holidays ate as he used to do.

It was learnt that the deceased persons started throwing up after eating the suya and drinking the juice.

They reportedly died before they could be taken to the hospital.

It was learnt that the mother of the house, Mrs. Ogba Jessey and her son survived the food poison and are currently on admission at the Federal medical Center, Umuahia where they are receiving medical attention.
