A birthday party in a popular hotel located at the Ohanku axis of Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State was marred with violence as cult members clash.
Infonet9ja.com gathered that the ugly incident is a continuation of the ongoing squabble between a popular cult group in Aba; “Aro” and a rival cult group operating in Aba South Local Government Area of the state known as “Bobo(s)”.
The incident which left several members of both cult groups and other customers at the hotel injured, forced customers and other residents of the area to scamper for safety.
Unconfirmed reports have it that two members of a security outfit in the state that provide security at the hotel that wanted to intervene in the matter were overpowered and their guns reportedly taken away in the process.
A source that claimed to have witnessed the incident, that gave his name simply as Great said “it was at the birthday of an Aro member who was celebrating his birthday at the hotel.
“There has been this war of supremacy going on among the Aro group and other cult groups in this area. We learnt that Aro members have at one or two occasions invaded birthday of Bobo(s) group and this time, when the rival group got information about the birthday, one of them came and confirmed the information that they got.
“It was at that point that like they usually do, step out somewhere and called their members who came within a short time. And before you know what is happening, they have started stabbing themselves with knives and bottles.
“Customers there were not spared. In fact, we learnt that the cult boys also snatched phones of people. The man selling pork meat there was not spared as they pushed his wares into the gutter.
“We learnt that the Bakassi men who are working as security guards at the hotel were overpowered and their pump action guns collected from them.”

A source at the State office of the Abia Vigilante Service (AVS) debunking that its personnel lost their guns to any cult group, claimed that none of its personnel was posted at the said hotel.
