Nnamdi Kanu reportedly ‘loses’ dad two months after mum’s death

There is confusion in Isiama Afaraukwu community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State following rumours about the death of the father of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu: Royal Highness, King Isreal Okwu Kanu.

Recall that the Afaraukwu monarch in a release by IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu disclosed that the wife of the traditional ruler died on the 30th of August in Germany after a long battle with a yet-to-be disclosed ailment, though Kanu had attributed his mum’s death to the 2017 invasion of their home by soldiers.

While the Kanu family is yet to make any official pronouncement on the issue, many respondents who reacted to the rumour said that they won’t make any statement until the Kanu’s family comes out with an official statement.

Businesses and economic activities were going on smoothly around the palace as usual, but people are however apprehensive as they feared the impact of the rumour on the community and the general public.

However, an unconfirmed release which was attributed to a Pro-Biafra group read “Disregard any Report that IPOB Leader Nnamdi kanus Father is Dead.
The Family of His Royal Highness, King Isreal Okwu Kanu have dismissed a death rumour making rounds that Eze Isreal, Kanu’s father have passed away following the death of his wife Mrs Sally Okwu Kanu.

“IPOB have now warned the perpetrators of such wicked false news to desist from such as Kanus father is Hale and hearty and Currently in his palace in Afaraukwu community of Abia State.

“For avoidance of doubt anyone who wishes to have an audience with the king can visit the Palace.

“IPOB Leader Nnamdi kanu have said that it is part of distraction by the Nigerian govt aimed at sabotaging the Biafra restoration.

“Kanu maintained that no amount of distraction will stop the Biafra restoration.”

But a source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that Kanu’s father died on Thursday, October 31st after a prolonged days of being in the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Umuahia.
