Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has promised to solve the problem of absence of electricity supply from the national grid to Acha community of Isuikwuato LGA within the next 30 days.
Governor Ikpeazu who spoke during the commissioning of a cottage rice mill located in the community stated that he was moved to construct the rice mill when he saw women from the community carrying unmilled rice to a neighboring state for milling.
The Governor who praised the people of the community for their hard work and industry informed that his administration is determined to establish one agricultural product processing cottage industry in every LGA of the state said that so far he has commissioned 4 rice mills in Acha, Ofeme, Uzuakoli and Bende.
Information has it that the people of Acha have been without out electricity for about 30 years, a situation that has had negative toll on the people’s economic and social life.
He said that he will also negotiate with the contractor handling the Acha road to ensure that the construction work was completed in due time.
