Abia State House of Assembly lawmakers have screened and confirmed 22 out of 24 names of commissioner nominees sent to the State House of Assembly for screening and subsequent confirmation as Commissioner Designates by the State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
This was made known by the Speaker of the House; Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji during Wednesday’s plenary of the State Assembly Lawmakers.
The commissioner nominees cleared by the State Assembly members include Hon. Chimaobi Ebisike, Chief John J. Okoro, Mrs. Ojo Loveth Adimoha, Dr. Cosmos Ndukwe, Hon. Ugbaja Theophilus Odionyemfe, Mr. Onyema Nwachukwu, Sir Gabriel. C. Onyendilefu, Chief Emeka Ikwuagwu, Hon. D. K. Uduma, Barr. Ekele Nwaohammuo, Chief Mrs. Ukachi Constance Amala, Hon. Prince Ezekwesili, Dr. Solomon Ogunji, Chief Ikpechukwu Onuoha, Prince Okoli Daniel Iheanacho, Barr. Suleiman Ukandu, Dr. Aham Uko, Hon. Chijioke Madumere, Dr. K. C. K Nwangwa, Chief Mrs. Uwaoma Olenwemgwa, Dr. Joe Osuji, Hon. Emma Nwabuko.
Speaking before the House members unanimously agreed to adjourn to reconvene Plenary on Monday the 30th Day of September, 2019 by 10am, Rt. Hon. Orji congratulated the confirmed commissioners and thanked his colleagues for their contributions in making the exercise a success.
Speaking on why the House screened and confirmed 22 out of the 24 commissioner nominees, Uzoma Okoro, Special Assistant on Media to the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly in a telephone interview listed the remaining two as Prof. Ikechi Mgbeoji (Education Commissioner between 2015-2019) and Barr. Bob Ogu (Immediate Past Chairman Nigeria Bar Association, NBA), Aba.

Okoro disclosed that Prof. Mgbeoji was out of the country while Ogu’s name was just submitted by the Governor on Tuesday as replacement for a former Commissioner of Works, Hon. Eziuche Ubani (one of the kitchen cabinet members of the present government, who is yet to make public why he chose to turned down his re-nomination public).
The media aide stated that the remaining persons would be screened by next week when the house will resume plenary.
