400L ENGINEERING STUDENT NEEDS N13MILLION FOR SURGERY

Emeka Nwekuru is a 22-year old indigene of Ukehe, in Igbo-Etiti LGA of Enugu State, and a 400L student of Agricultural Engineering at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT).

This bubbling and amiable young man has become a victim of cruel circumstances that are completely outside of his making.

In 2011, as a 15-year old teenager, he underwent an APPENDECTOMY at a private clinic in Abuja to remove an inflamed appendix.

Three days after the procedure (and upon the permission of the doctor) he took a glass of cold water and instantly started vomiting, and finally slipped into a 3-week coma.

He was rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, where doctors diagnosed kidney problem occasioned by error in the appendectomy.

He was placed on several rounds of dialysis, after which he recuperated and set about to pursue his dreams.

But fate came calling again in December 2017. The kidney ailment returned and worsened until his kidneys packed up in October 2018.

After series of tests at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Kidney transplant was recommended.

Transplant at an Indian hospital will cost N13million, while transplant at St. Nicholas Hospital Lagos will cost N11million.
