Two sitting PDP House of Representatives lawmakers lose seats to new entrants …Abia Accountant General loses bid, as Hon Nwokocha triumphs

Camps of two sitting Abia State House of Representatives Lawmakers; Hon. Nnenna Ukeje and Hon. Solomon Adaelu were on Thursday stunned to the marrow as new entrants unseat them to clinch tickets of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Bende and Osisioma/Obingwa/Ugwunagbo federal constituencies respectively.

 

While Chief Chima Anyaso from Igbere in Bende North local government area of defeated Hon. Ukeje to become the 2019 PDP’s flag bearer of the party in Bende Federal constituency, Barr. Onyebuchi Ememanka defeated Hon. Adaelu to clinch the Osisioma/Obingwa/Ugwunagbo ticket.

 

According to results announced by the returning officer, Hon. Sam Ejekwu, Anyaso polled 82 votes against 70 by Ukeje while Paul Chikezie Mba polled 6 delegate votes. Prince Chima Onyegbu polled 3 votes while Nwokocha Chidiebere received no vote.

Responding to the announcement, Hon. Ukeje congratulated Anyanso and wished him victory during the main election.

 

According to her, “the election is transparent, peaceful and fair. I am so happy for the way it played out. Democracy is supposed to emanate from the people and that has just happened.

 

“I have served my people for 12 years and they have seen a fine young man in Chima and feel otherwise. I therefore congratulate Chima for this victory and enjoin him to continue from where i stopped. I am a proud member of PDP and will not jettison my party. Democracy has played out,” was quoted to have said.

In another development, the lawmaker representing Umuahia/Ikwuano Federal Constituency, Hon. Sam Onuigbo has clinched the 2019 ticket of his party.

 

Onuigbo scored 117 votes  to emerge the overall winner of the primary while other like John K Nwadinobi got 90 votes, Uni Agomuo 8, Emeka Inyama 49, Wada Ijeoma 30, Emeka Njoku 20, Megwara Kingsley 16, Ejiogu 14, Uwaoma Adaku 16, Longman 3, Gospel 37.

 

In a related development, immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture in Abia State, Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike, has won the 2019 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for Aba North/South Federal Constituency.

Chief (Barr) Azubuike who is also a former member of House of Representatives, polled a total of 178 votes to defeat Hon. Blessing Nwagba, member representing Aba North State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly who polled 94 votes. Two votes were voided.

However, the lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa North and South, Rt. Hon. Darlington Nwokocha scaled the hurdle to return to the House of Representatives after getting 165 votes to defeat the Accountant General of the State, Sir G.C Onyendilefu who polled 61 votes. Chief Chinagorom Nwamkpa 6 votes. Nwokoukwu Adanma 16 votes respectively.
