Dr. Nwankwo declares to contest Enugu Assembly Elections, assures of quality representation

The medical Director, Save a Life Hospital and Secretary General, Association of Town Union Presidents’ General, Enugu North Senatorial zone, Dr. Bartholomew Nwankwo has declared his intention to contest for Enugu State House of Assembly in 2019, representing Uzo-Uwani Constituency, under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); with a promise, if elected, to ensure quality and responsive representation in the council. 

At a formal declaration in Umulokpa, headquarters of Uzo-Uwani LGA, during the Party’s ward meeting, Dr. Barth who is also the immediate past coordinating Town Union Presidents’ General of the Local council, listed the challenges buffeting the LGA to include “insecurity, unemployment, lack of access road and dearth of skill acquisition programs; including sports development initiative across the local authority.

“Let me say that I think with all humility, that I am well prepared to address the issues of insecurity, unemployment and inaccessible road network using the state Parliament as a platform, if elected;” he said He further said that the LGA had what it takes to become the envy of other Councils across the State if proper actions were taken to harness the potentials of the area.

He commended the party’s leadership in the Local council down to his ward, particularly for their efforts in building the party and keeping it united.

He also thanked the Council Chairman, Barr. Fidelis Ani and His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of the state for their outstanding performances in their respective areas of representation.

“I want to use this medium to commend the Party for remaining United; as well as Our dear Governor for his uncommon giant strides across the state,” he concluded.

Executive Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Gregory Igwebuike in his response, enumerated that Dr. Barth who doubles as President General, Akiyi Umulokpa Town Union and treasurer, Association of Enugu State town Union Presidents’ General, will use his wealth of knowledge garnered overtime while working in different capacities at both the Local authority and Enugu state in general to ensure an all inclusive and people oriented representation; having demonstrated same while working in different positions in the state.

“Having been a member, peace and security committee of the LGA, Supervisor for health in the local council and performed in various other capacities, I am upbeat if he is given the privilege to represent us at the State Assembly, he will ensure an all inclusive and people orientation laws at the Assembly.

He added that as a former Chairman, Medical Students Association (ESUMA) and former member, students Union Government Parliament, Dr. Barth had long acquired the skill to negotiate, persuade, and to make a consensus that will make us proud if elected.

He further itemized other positions occupied by the Aspirant to include BOT Secretary, Association of Town Union Presidents’ General, South East; Secretary, Medical Volunteer Services, Enugu and C/O Government House Medical Centre.
