Gunmen kidnap Enugu Senatorial Aspirant’s Father.

Unidentified gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the father of Chinedu Eya, the Enugu North Senatorial District Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Chukwuemeka Lawrence Eya.

Chief Chukwuemeka Lawrence Eya was allegedly kidnapped by the gunmen at his son’s residence in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State on Sunday at 9pm while he was having his rest.

Chinedu Eya who has taken advantage of the “Not Too Young Bill” recently passed by President Muhammadu Buhari would be squaring up against Senator Chuka Utazi during the PDP primaries coming up later in the year.

Information gathered from sources close to the Eya’s has it that the kidnappers have made contact with the family and are demanding N18 million ransom for his release.

Meanwhile, efforts to get the reaction of Chinedu Eya, the Senatorial hopeful of Enugu North failed as his mobile phone was said to be unavailable.

Aide and Personal Assistant to the Enugu North Senatorial aspirant, Gwiyi Solomon when contacted on phone by our reporter confirmed the kidnap of the patriarch.

Gwiyi, who said that the family received the news with shock appealed to the kidnappers to release the patriarch unconditionally.

According to him, the family, the family cannot afford to pay the N18million ransom demanded by the kidnappers. This is even as he stressed that times are hard, following the present economic impasse the country found itself into.
