Gunmen kill final year student of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba

It was a sad day for residents of Umuatako in Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State as yet-to-be identified stormed the area and killed yet to be identified final year student of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba.

The incident infonet9ja.com gathered caused chaos in Umuatako as residents and shop owners reportedly closed shops to avoid being arrested by police in a case hat they know nothing about.

Sources told our reporter that the gunmen after shooting the victim in his late twenties, ensured that he died in the pool of his blood before departing the scene.

Some of the residents described the death of the victim said to be a final year student of SBMT (School of Business, Management and Technology) as unfortunate after his parents must have laboured to train him in school in the past four years or more.

Some of the students of the polytechnic leaving in the area that identified the victim as a tenant in one of the lodges around the area; Oriaku said that the victim should be around 26years of age.

The students who pleaded not to be mentioned told our reporter that when the news about the death of the student filtered into the lodge, most of the occupants on hearing it, left their rooms for their friends nearby hostels as they feared police arrest and retaliatory move from the rival cult group.

 

Yet to be confirmed information has it that the barefaced gunmen were about seven in number, adding that they carried out their attacks unchallenged.

 

Meanwhile, residents of Umuatako have called on security agencies in Aba to step up surveillance in the area, citing several cases of rival cult activities in the community which has put lives of people at risk.

The Spokesman of the Abia State Command of Nigeria Police Force, DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna was yet to reached at the time of filing the report, but a senior police officer in Aba who was equally contacted said that they would investigate the incident and get back to our reporter as soon as possible.
